ChargePAK, New Rechargeable Battery Packs from PURE
ChargePAK is also the greener way to listen on the move as it saves energy and reduces landfill. A ChargePAK battery pack offers true fit-and forget portability. The ChargePAK charges while the radio is plugged into the mains so that the user never has to purchase, fit or charge new batteries again. A number of PURE radios have been recommended by the Energy Saving Trust as part of their Energy Saving Recommended (ESR) scheme. The standards by which these radios were endorsed had to satisfy an Independent Endorsement Panel of experts, and radios had to meet strict energy efficiency criteria which means they are not only better for the environment but are also cheaper to run. These battery packs are more cost-effective and convenient and avoid the need to dispose of alkaline batteries in landfill sites. Pure’s Environmentally Friendly Chargepak Saves Time And Money
PURE Rechargeable Battery Packs are Best for Portable Listening
World leading DAB digital radio manufacturer PURE has determined that the average radio listener listening to a radio with batteries can save both time and money if they listen to a PURE digital radio with a ChargePAK. ChargePAK is also the greener way to listen on the move as it saves energy and reduces landfill.

An average listener listens to radio around 20.5 hours a week* which equates to 1066 hours a year. If the listening is via a radio running from batteries, a radio that takes 6 C cell batteries would typically need replacement batteries 30 times in that year** which would cost around £330***. A PURE ChargePAK costs £29.99 which offers a saving of over £300 a year, and will in fact last much longer than that.
A ChargePAK battery pack offers true fit-and forget portability. The ChargePAK charges while the radio is plugged into the mains so that the user never has to purchase, fit or charge new batteries again.
Says Yat Wong-Jones, Buyer, Audio & Telecoms, John Lewis: ”PURE’s ChargePAK has always been popular with our customers. They particularly like the ease-of-use that ChargePAK offers as well as the financial benefits and the fact that they are good for the environment”.
An element of this criteria requires the radio to be able to recharge batteries within the unit to discourage the disposal of batteries in landfill.
ChargePAK Ready
PURE has a range of six ChargePAK ready radios including the EVOKE-1S, EVOKE-2XT, EVOKE-3, ONE, ONE Mini and the forthcoming ONE Elite. Move, Oasis and PocketDAB 1500 have an integrated ChargePAK. These battery packs are more cost-effective and convenient and avoid the need to dispose of alkaline batteries in landfill sites. ChargePAK compatible radios can be identified via two distinctive logos which show whether the radio is ‘ChargePAK ready’ or has an integrated ‘ChargePAK inside’.
ChargePAK Inside
ChargePAK is also part of PURE’s EcoPlus™ initiative. EcoPlus sets standards within PURE for: reduced power consumption; use of packaging materials from recycled and sustainable sources; reduced packaging size; and use of components with minimised environmental impact.
PURE radios also conform to the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) standard. PURE supports the WEEE directive to reduce electrical waste.

Run by the Energy Saving Trust, Energy Saving Recommended (ESR) is an endorsement scheme that identifies the most energy efficient products on the market. Launched in 2000, our objective is to endorse the top 20 per cent of energy efficient products so they become easily identifiable to consumers. To gain certification a product or service must meet with a strict set of criteria, independently set and updated annually.
There are now around 3000 ESR products from over 130 manufacturers, available over 70 retailers - these include multiple, independent and online retailers.
