CL-200A Chroma Meter for LED and OLED Measurements - Konica Minolta
Anticipating LED and OLED next generation lighting technologies, Konica Minolta Sensing Americas recently introduced its new CL-200A Chroma Meter, the successor to the current CL-200 Chroma Meter. CL-200A measures the illuminance, chromaticity, color temperature, dominant wavelength, and excitation purity of all light sources, specifically LED (Light Emitting Diode), Organic LED (OLED), and other forms of Organic Electroluminescence (EL). Compared its ancestor, the new CL-200A Chroma Meter offers additional benefits, such as operability for white LED & OLED measurements, remote measurement feature and LED ranking function.

Many white LEDs are comprised of a blue LED which is coated with yellow phosphor. The resulting white light in this case is actually a mixture of the yellow light emitted by the yellow phosphor coating and the blue light emitted by the blue LED. As the wavelength distribution of the blue LED emission spectrum differs from LED to LED, the white light generated also varies. Because of this, it is very important to control not just brightness but also color when white LEDs are measured. The CL-200A Chroma Meter is a suitable tool to obtain all necessary indexes for controlling white LED light.
To determine the accuracy of LEDs’ illumination, the color temperature should be measured. The CL-200A Chroma Meter is able to do this since it has the ability to measure the chromaticity from the phosphor and also inspect the output light quality of the white LED.
The receptor head of CL-200A Chroma Meter can be detached from the main body, for example for use in a hard to reach locations. Measurement data from CL-200A Chroma Meter can then be collected by connecting the receptor head to the body using LAN cable. CL-200A Chroma Meter system also able to do multi-point measurements using up to 30 receptor heads.
Data management software (CL-S10w) included in the package allows users to operate the CL-200A Chroma Meter from PC and transfer data to Excel. To measure color variations, the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) calculations ranking function also included.
CL-200A Chroma Meter can be ordered now, the shipment will begin by the end of July 2010.
